What is the process and timeline of a divorce or paternity case in Florida?

First one party will file a petition to determine paternity or a petition for dissolution of marriage. The other party will then file an answer and counter-petition. Shortly thereafter, the parties will exchange financial documents and attend mediation. If the parties are unable to come to an agreement at mediation, then the parties will then go to trial. A final judgment will be entered at that time.
